Time to get ready for print competition! The competition is right around the corner... it will be here before you know it. We are off to a new year of competition... who will be in the top 10 photographers this year?? How about the photographer of the year?? As one of our other members put it..... GAME ON!
The competition will be at the Eberhard Center at 7:00 p.m. on Jan 19, 2009. HERE are directions and parking information. Prints need to be dropped off by 5:30. Dinner will be at 5:30 at Bobirino's, located in the B.O.B. You can either walk from the Eberhard parking lot, or drive and pay for parking near the B.O.B.
Here is just a reminder of our print competition rules:
1. To be eligible to enter, you must be a member in good standing, and you must have paid your membership dues prior to the annual January print competition.
You may enter up to four prints.
2. Only fresh images please. You may not reenter images from PPWM ANNUAL print competitions.
3. No two images of the same person allowed unless treatment is substantially different.
Minimum image area allowed is 100 square inches.
4. Prints must be permanently mounted on 16x20 mount board. Creative matting may also be used, but combined thickness of print, mount and mats shall be a minimum of one-eighth inch to a maximum one-quarter of an inch.
5. The following items must not appear on the front of the entry: Title, name of maker, tape covering the title or name, awards, seal or ribbons. However, titles that are an integral part of the photographic image are permitted.
6. All entries must be titled. Not doing so will disqualify the entry.
7. PPA rules and scoring will be used. Ribbons will be awarded as follows:
Prints scoring 80 and above will receive a blue ribbon
Prints scoring 76-79 will receive a red ribbon
Prints scoring 74-74 will receive a yellow ribbon
Prints scoring 70-73 will receive a white ribbon
8. A “Best of Show” ribbon may be awarded in the following categories: (1) Portrait; (2) Candid; (3) Commercial and (4) Illustrative. “Best of Show” is worth 20 points. If there is no blue ribbon print in a given category, a “Best of Show” ribbon may not be awarded for the category.
9. Prints will be judged under the required 75-foot candles of light.
